Koma Djembe - Shells

Koma Drum's djembes, by Mohamed Kaleb Sylla, represents our strive for perfection. We work with only the most experienced and accomplished carvers, and choose shells of only the highest quality wood and workmanship. Mohamed then spends one to two days on the "finish-carving" of each shell, making them as close to perfect as possible.

Decorative carvings on djembes in the "Koma Djembe" line may have been completed in-part with the assistance of Mohamed's apprentices, although under the direction and guidance of Mohamed. Mohamed also completes the finish-carving himself, to clean up the lines of his apprentices, before he carves his signature SYLLA MK into the drum.
